Kansas City

Last week Lariann and I flew out to Kansas City MO/KS to spend some time with my brother Tyler, sister in law Brooke and nephew Britian. Lucy stayed home with her grandparents splitting time with both sets. We figured she would enjoy that more than doing what we did.

Kansas City is home to the National World War I museum. We visited that our first full day out. It was very interesting we learned alot about WW I, which isn't really saying much since sadly I didn't know a whole lot about it to begin with.

Lariann says she hates that I take pictures like this where I make her put on weird hats or other stuff or do weird things or have weird poses. I think if she really hated it she wouldn't agree to do it.

That night we went with Tyler to the Kansas City Royals game.
They beat the tigers 6-1, led by there dominant pitcher Zack Greinke, who went all 9 innings with 10 strike outs and only allowed one run.
This is our favorite Royal, #2 out fielder Coco Crisp. Yes that is his real name, I've even included a picture of the out field score board to prove it
.

The next day was all about the church history sites. We drove out to Independence to see the temple site, we saw two of the original corner stones and a copy of the first printing of the Book of Mormon.

We went from there up to Liberty where the prophet Joseph Smith was jailed for a time. It's very interesting, they've rebuilt part of the jail and the missionaries tell you about what Joseph had to indure while there.

The day before we left we spent the morning touring Kaufman Stadium where the Royals play. We got to sit in the dug out, be on the field and see alot of the stadium.

Then that after noon we went with Brooke and Britian to see the exhibit of the Steamboat Arabia. It's a steam boat that sank in 1856 and was found and dug up in 1988, it is still in the process of being dug up and restored. The ship had it's entire cargo still intact and what they have dug up and restored is on display. Britian was most impressed with the giant paddle wheele in the water. This was also the only time Britian would let me hold him. It lasted just long enough to get a picture and not a moment longer.

Thanks for posting pictures! I was pretty disappointed when Lari texted to say you guys were in Kansas, I haven't seen her in a long time!
